Drivers@Pertemps in cold water!

Severn Trent Water recently found themselves in a challenging situation after the severe floods in the Gloucestershire and Worcestershire areas; forced them to shut down their Mythe water treatment works as it too was flooded.

As local residents were without drinking water supplies and the flood situation continued to worsen, Severn Trent contacted Drivers at Pertemps to request immediate assistance.

Pertemps were requested to provide almost 100 drivers to deliver fresh drinking water supplies to the desperate residents in the affected areas.

Within six hours Drivers at Pertemps had enlisted the assistance of all regional branches and had raised a phenomenal 115 drivers who remained on stand-by to work 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Lisa Thurkettle, Director of Drivers at Pertemps, became the main point of contact for Severn Trent, coordinating and managing the whole project across all regions.

Due to this dedicated commitment from all levels, Drivers at Pertemps were able to fulfil all Severn Trent's requirements ensuring all local residents were at least able to receive the much needed fresh water provisions they required.

Lisa said: "I was delighted to receive the call from Severn Trent but even more overjoyed with the commitment and camaraderie shown by both Pertemps branches and the Drivers we deployed. The whole project was a complete success, although I am still catching up on my much needed sleep!"

Although it was a long week, the end result was pleasing and the local residents were at least able to receive basics such as fresh drinking water whilst they dealt with the aftermath of the floods".
